Carrie & Jacob took a road trip down the Coast from Northern California to spend time with their children and to celebrate their recent engagement. A mutual friend of ours had connected us. We meet at the Douglas Family Reserve to kick off the Engagement Session and strolled down to Arroyo Burro Beach better known to locals as Hendry’s beach for a sunset session. The Boathouse was the perfect spot for a sundowner and some delicious appetizers to celebrate the occasion. Carrie and Jacob, I am so very happy I met you. Your love is beyond inspiring. What a pleasure spending time with you and the kids and capturing some true moments of joy and tenderness. May your life be always full of light and love, just like the golden hours we spent together on this beautiful April afternoon on the beach in Santa Barbara.
Tiffany and Cody get engaged at the LACMA in Los Angels and chose Santa Barbara for their destination wedding. Family and Friends gathered in the Rotunda at the Fess Parker for an al fresco ceremony and reception on a beautiful September day. The wedding was beautifully planned and designed by Felici Events and flowers by Sarah Hinton of Rowan Oak Events. Gavin Roy, of Gavin Roy Presents, DJ extra ordinaire made sure his music kept the crowd moving on the dance floor until the wee hours. Tiffany and Cody, you are awesome. Thank you so much for letting me document your wedding day. Wishing you a wonderful life together.

Kaitlyn and Salem got married in a lavish Destination Wedding in Louisiana on New Years Eve at Nottoway Plantation . Kaitlyn wore a stunning Romona Keveza gown and had the most beautiful peonies in the winter bridal bouquet. More than 400 guests had traveled far and wide to celebrate their nuptials and to ring in the New Year in style. Candlelight and abundant flower arrangements made for a romantic setting. A firework was launched from a barge on the Mississippi River at midnight and the party went well into the early morning hours.
A small and intimate vintage inspired destination wedding in Santa Barbara: After being together for seven years Jennifer and Dustin decided to get married quickly and planned their wedding in only eight weeks. After committing to the wedding, they realized planning it on a half-grad student/half-budding career budget presented a problem. They both come from large families and knew it would take years to save enough to celebrate with them all. This helped guide them towards an intimate courthouse wedding. They picked the Santa Barbara courthouse because it is where Dustin was finishing his graduate studies. Being together for 7 years and married on 7.7.14 was special to them because it symbolized the “lucky in love” feelings they have had for each other from the start. July 7th fell on a Monday, meaning it would be easier to plan the wedding in such short time on a non-traditional day. When they started planning, Jennifer was still living in San Diego, their hometown. She planned the wedding from a distance, while Dustin did all the local legwork in Santa Barbara between finishing his degree and working part time. Their reception was at Brophy Bros. Oyster Bar an excellent local seafood restaurant right on the marina. It was a casual environment that was extremely accommodating and flexible, there was no seating plan, which really encouraged a blending of the families and friends. Everyone was cozy and it really felt like one big family. With it being such an intimate reception, Jennifer and Dustin were able to let everyone speak that wanted to. They toasted champagne and, as a toast to Dustin’s father, they shot some tequila too. Jennifer and Dustin’s first dance was in the middle of the bar to Jason Mraz’s “Lucky”.
In their own words “7.7.14 ended up being the luckiest day of our life and we are so happy we chose to put our 5-year plan aside and follow our hearts!”
I had the absolute pleasure of assisting my good friend and photographer extraordinaire D’Arcy Benincosa shooting the wedding of Spencer Stout and Dustin Reese in Salt Lake City, Utah on a cold and snowy Saturday in February. Spencer and Dustin were married on Jan, 26th 2014 by Queen Latifah during the Grammy’s Award Ceremony in Los Angeles, CA and were then surrounded by the love of family, friends and special guest Betty Who in Salt Lake City, UT for the ring ceremony and the exchanging of vows. The love and happiness was so abound and Betty Who played “Somebody loves you” live while they were walking down the aisle. Spencer and Dustin’s wedding was one of the most moving and joyful events I have had the honor to attend and photograph and I am very happy to be able to share some of the images here on my blog. Thank you so much D’Arcy for having me.
From Mudra: We were both studying at the University of California. Lucas was in Law School and I was studying Communications. Lucas and I met in a coffee shop in Berkeley. He was buried in his bog law books and I was well…trying my best to keep my eyes on my own work. We had seen each other around town. He was shy, I was impatient. I couldn’t deny what was there any longer. I picked up my books and made my way into my future. I guess you can say I am a modern woman.
A small Destination Wedding was Erika and Davids choice for tying the knot on December 19, 2015. It was an intimate gathering with family and friends, full of laughter and happiness. Erika is Hungarian and she made sure that her Hungarian heritage was very well reflected in her wedding. Paztor Catering did an amazing job bringing a taste of Hungary all the way to Calabasas, California, including an amazing Hungarian Wedding Cake, the Dobos Torta for which Erika had crafted the Superman and Superwoman cake toppers painted on Champagne corks. It started raining just before the ceremony, but it did not affect the joy and lightness that permeated the whole day. Erika and David even braved the weather and we were able to capture beautiful moments after the ceremony laughing and kissing in the rain. Erika and David, thank you so very much for letting me tell the story of your wedding day. It was an honor and absolute pleasure to be part of your special day and to experience the love you have for each other and to witness two families joining in the celebration of your love. Have a beautiful life. Mazel Tov!
